This year’s Holy Week will be highlighted by a very special Maundy Thursday service that will be celebrated on March 24th at 6:00 p.m. in the Sun Lakes Chapel.
Our service will open with the scripture on the “mandata” or mandate that was given for each of us to be servants. Pastor Vernon will provide a foot washing of two members to remind us of Jesus’ example and call to serve others. Then attendees will be offered the opportunity to participate in a symbolic “hand washing” to signify our commitment to serve others.
Following the symbolic hand washing, we will remember the Last Supper with a scripture reading and the celebration of Communion.
The service will close with a reflection of Jesus’ time of deep anguish and prayer in the garden on the Mount of Olives.
This very meditative and reflective service is a beautiful way to solemnly enter into the sacred journey that Jesus travels during His passion and death. Please plan on attending and consider inviting a guest or two to share in this special time of remembrance.
